Luxurious Japanese Restaurant In Ion Orchard From Japan, Sen-ryo, Launches Affordable Lunch Sets From $19.80++
Enjoy value-for-money exclusive lunch sets from $19.80++ for a limited time period only!
Don't we all love to discover restaurants that serve premium ingredients indulgent menu at an affordable mid-range price?
Clearly, the third floor of ION Orchard is home to luxury boutiques and upscale ateliers so mid-range affordable finds aren’t typically associated with the upper stories here. However, don’t let sen-ryo’s daunting disguise fool you because sen-ryo prides itself in providing quality Japanese plates that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
sen-ryo is established in Japan in 1999 and is well-known for authentic Japanese cuisine with premium but pocket-friendly creations that promise affordable-luxury at its best. In 2005, sen-ryo launched in Hong Kong to overwhelming response, and has since grown to a total of 13 outlets there. Its first Singapore outlet opened on 1 April 2021 in ION Orchard!
To commemorate its 1st Year Anniversary here, from now until 15 May 2022, sen-ryo presents special dishes and new set lunch offerings to add to its already popular ones, and an exclusive gift for dine-in customers.
What We Had
If you’re seeking for a soothing and light meal like I did, this Madai Ochazuke Set is a luxe option featuring rice topped with sliced sea bream, bonito flakes, radish and leek, along with a pot of Japanese green tea broth to pour into the bowl of rice. It comes with chawanmushi and pickles.
sen-ryo also served this with something similar to rice krispies (look at my blue condiment bowl) which gave me that crunch when I mixed it in my rice. My first time having that together and I found that it was a great complement actually because it adds a little kick to the chewing experience.
If you want to have a variety of choice, this skewer-style delight with five sticks of ebi (shrimp), hotate, tsukune, shiitake (mushroom) and onion is for you. It is served with Japanese rice, chawanmushi, miso soup, salad and pickles.
These new offerings join the existing selection of lunch sets, including the sen-ryo Special Bento which comprises nine of the chef’s recommended side dishes including: assorted sashimi flown in fresh from Japan, the signature sen-ryo tamagoyaki, tofu in goma sauce, ebi tempura and tako karaage, and comes with rice, miso soup and warabi mochi.
New Seasonal Specials
If you like yourself some hot-pot, try sen-ryo’s limited-edition special Kaki Soy Nabe. This Japanese soy milk dashi-based hotpot has chewy Kuzukiri noodles, tofu, vegetables, shiitake, and freshly shucked Hyogo oysters bathing in together. Perfect for 2 people and even 4 if you’re thinking of having this alongside the lunch sets!
Sweet endings are made of this I tell you! Such adorable fruit desserts specially brought in from Toyama, Japan, of which the Peach Sorbet & Yuzu Sorbet are popular choices (the ones that we ate) while Lemon Ice Cream ($6.80) and Mango Ice Cream ($10.80) are seasonal options.
Dessert will always be my highlight and I was enthralled by these kawaii (and oishii!!) treats that I forgot to snap some photos while I’m digging into it to show you the texture of it. Gomen ne~ It’s just… that good. Seriously, get this.
