Maki Rolls
We had the oppportunity to try the Samurai Spice Roll ($17) which starred the zesty flavours of chilli mayo, succulent salmon, shrimp, avocado, all crowned with crispy fried enoki and fresh scallions.
Meat lovers that wish to get their protein in could also opt for the Hakata Chashu Roll ($19). A fusion flavour bomb of East-meets-West, this maki roll is packed with crunchy green apple, creamy avocado, cheddar cheese sauce, topped with tender ramen chashu and chopped jalapeño pickles for a good spicy kick.
For those that are in the mood to elevate their sushi with a more premium touch can also opt for the Wagyu Sukiyaki Roll ($23). Tender Wagyu slices rest atop a delightful roll featuring crisp cucumber, shichimi spice, savoury ganmo (simmered deep-fried vegetable tofu), crown daisy, and a perfectly poached egg with mayo.
Tatami Sushi
We had the Mentaiko Spam Tatami ($16) which was a pleasant explosion of flavour. It featured a crispy spam katsu packed with umami mentaiko, tamago, and shredded cabbage all rolled together with creamy mayo and tonkatsu sauce. Each element of the roll came together to create an immaculately delicious bite.
Those who appreciate breakfast sammies would definitely fall for the Island Sunrise Tatami ($17) as well. Picture a soft-boiled egg oozing indulgence, paired with creamy mashed avocado, fresh shiso leaves, and a spicy kick from shichimi powder. The addition of mayo and shio dare sauce adds a dash of umami to the roll.
Customised Sushi
Available at $18 each, diners who prefer to create their own sushi roll from scratch can also DIY the individual toppings and sushi base.
To choose a sushi base, you can go for either the traditional Maki Roll or the innovative Tatami sushi sandwich. Select three fillings from options such as boiled shrimp, sushi tamago, spam, and more. For those that are willing to splurge a little more for an upscaled sushi roll can also opt for the premium extras like Wagyu beef, salmon, pork chashu, or unagi, ranging from $2 to $4 each.
Drizzle a sauce of your liking such as Mayo, Spicy Mayo, Mustard Mayo, Wasabi Mayo, Teriyaki Sauce, Salsa (V) or Cheddar Cheese Sauce. Lastly, finish off your sushi creation with three tasty sprinkles such as garlic chips, tempura flakes, tobiko, and more for a pop of crunch.
At the end, add on a drink (Coke, Coke Light, or Sprite) for $5.20 or for a healthier choice, the Oxygenated Water at $3.
