Viral Japanese Kakigori Café Sakanoue Opens First Store in Singapore

The viral kakigori cafe from Japan, Sakanoue, is finally here in Singapore! After long snaking queues at its temporary pop-ups in 2023 and 2024, they have finally set up shop permanently at Drips Bakery Bistro. Customers can now enjoy the finest kakigori dessert alongside their fresh cakes, tarts, and coffee.

Plus, head down soon to catch their Opening Launch Promotion from 4 to 20 April 2025 to enjoy a free hot or iced Momo Sencha or Sakura Spring Tea, plus 15% off all tarts/bakes at Drips Bakery Café with every kakigori purchased!

Special Kakigori Menu

Sakanoue will debut at Drips Bakery Café’s flagship outlet on Tiong Poh Road starting 4 April 2025, featuring a Singapore-exclusive kakigori — the Signature Blackforest Kakigori, alongside 5 of its bestsellers: Strawberry Shortcake, Berry Cute Panda, Pistachio Chocolate, Lemon Mascarpone, and Blazing Fire Cheese Kakigori.

Available daily from 1pm to 9pm (or until sold out), these kakigori creations are made with premium imported Japanese ice from Kuramoto Ice (which gives Sakanoue its signature impossibly fluffy structure!). They consist of 4 delightful layers of sauce and toppings.

The vibrant red-and-white Strawberry Shortcake Kakigori ($17.50) was one of our favourites as it is topped with sweet and tangy strawberries, milk sauce, strawberry sauce, and a generous cloud of espuma cream.

A must-try that is available exclusively in its Singapore outpost, the signature Blackforest Kakigori ($19.80) is packed with sweet and sour flavours, with brandied cherries, luscious chocolate sauce, cream cheese, tea caramel sauce, and hidden cinnamon crumble cookies served with cherry brandy liqueur on the side for you to drizzle over the ice mountain.

Cakes and Pastries

While you enjoy your kakigori, you must definitely try some of their new bakes! The Black Sesame Mochi Danish ($5.50) is flaky, buttery and filled with soft, chewy homemade mochi with a rich and nutty black sesame paste nestled within the layers.

Meanwhile, the Okonomiyaki Danish ($5) is an interesting twist on the iconic Japanese street food as it is topped with chicken yakitori dressed in Japanese mayo, sweet teriyaki sauce and bonito flakes.

And of course, you can’t leave Drips without digging into their signature Blackforest Cake ($12.80 per slice) featuring indulgent French chocolate sponge soaked in brandy, layered with vanilla cream and brandy-soaked French cherries.
