Sake Pairing with Bluefin Tuna

Five out of 6 sakes for your selection

There is a total of 6 sake options for you to choose from, including IPPUDO’s regular sake Dassai Junmai Daiginjo. These sakes originate from various regions of Japan, such as Tottori, Yamagata, Niigata and Yamaguchi prefectures. Some of these exclusive sakes may not be available for sale in-store, so hurry if you do not want to miss them.

Out of the 6 sakes, our top pick is Sorah Japanese Premium Sparkling Sake. We loved the fruity notes of this uplifting, apple sparkling sake. Next on our list is Sake Koya Junmaiginjo Dewa Sansan, another fruity sake with a hint of citrus, orange, melon and custard. We loved the sweetness which stood out from the usual full-bodied dry sake.

We first tasted the Bluefin tuna sashimi on its own, it was fresh and paired very well with the recommended junmai sake. Next, we tasted the tuna with grated Japanese yam- it added another dimension to the dish, while keeping the overall taste profile light. We certainly enjoyed this traditional otsumame, Maguro Yamakake. If you are not a fan of the slightly slimy yam, you can have the sashimi on its own or add wasabi and soy sauce for more flavours.

Mark your calendar this December, visit IPPUDO for a hearty bowl of ramen, Maguro Yamakake and unwind with a few glasses of fine sake.

Note: Upcoming Sake Tasting with Bluefin Tuna promotions are only available at IPPUDO Mandarin Gallery (21 Dec 2022) and IPPUDO Shaw Centre (28 Dec 2022) from 5pm onwards.
